Set high above the city with sweeping ocean views, this Cape Town penthouse by Inhouse Design Studio is a study in elevated coastal minimalism. Under the creative direction of Aidan Hart, the home balances architectural clarity with softness, creating a space that feels both expansive and deeply comfortable.

The design begins with restraint. Rather than competing with the dramatic outlook, the interiors are intentionally tonal layered in warm ivories, soft greiges and pale taupe's that echo sand and stone. Subtle glass blues filter in from the exterior, while charcoal window frames add quiet definition. The result is a palette that feels calm yet considered.

Texture carries the design. Linen, velvet and woven textiles soften clean architectural lines, while light oak joinery introduces warmth and structure. Open shelving is thoughtfully styled, allowing negative space to become part of the aesthetic. Nothing feels crowded; each object has room to breathe.

In the bedroom, the same philosophy continues. Layered bedding in muted neutrals, sculptural pendant lighting and a tailored bench create understated luxury. A curved armchair and ottoman form a small retreat within the larger suite — proof that generous spaces benefit from intentional zoning.

Natural light is central to the design. Expansive glazing dissolves the boundary between indoors and out, while soft drapery tempers brightness without blocking the view. Materials and tones subtly carry through to the terrace, reinforcing a seamless indoor–outdoor connection.

What makes this penthouse successful is not bold statements, but balance. The palette is disciplined, the textures are tactile, and the joinery is purposeful. It’s a reminder that sophisticated coastal design isn’t about theme — it’s about tone, proportion and restraint.
