About the Project

The project involved refurbishing an existing 20-unit apartment block and adding a new extension for Strand Beach, a contemporary residential complex overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Lions Head, and Signal Hill. The client sought a design that harmonizes with the coastal landscape, maximizes ocean and mountain views, and elevates the overall living experience with modern, functional, and aesthetically striking spaces. Our concept draws inspiration from the natural contours of the coastline and the snaking ridges of Signal Hill. The new extension features a freeform, soft-flowing design that contrasts with and complements the existing structure, creating a sense of organic movement throughout the complex. Interior spaces are light-filled and open, with materials and finishes that echo the textures and tones of sand, rock, and sea. Balconies, terraces, and communal areas are strategically oriented to capture panoramic views while fostering a connection with the surrounding landscape. The completed Strand Beach complex presents a seamless integration of old and new, blending contemporary architecture with natural inspiration. The flowing forms of the extension create a dynamic silhouette, while thoughtfully designed interiors maximize comfort, functionality, and visual appeal. The project delivers a refined coastal living experience, offering residents both modern luxury and an intimate connection with the stunning Atlantic Ocean and iconic mountain vistas.
