An office expansion project that abandons the tired and typical in favour of something that actually works. 10X Investments came to Inhouse with a brief that was as much about culture as it was about square metres, a workplace that fosters community and collaboration, not one that simply accommodates headcount.
Using Inhouse's signature freestyle workspace planning principles, the floor was maximised with an H-layout: reception leading into the fuel station, multi-use workspaces lining either side, and the main meeting room at the centre, complete with views that wrap around into the ExCo's private meeting room. The layout creates a natural sequence of spaces that supports every kind of work, from focused individual output to high-stakes executive decision-making.
On the 14th floor, a recreational space invites play and pause amidst 360-degree views of Cape Town. Indoor golf, a bar, and a pool table make this level a genuine destination within the building, a space that earns the journey up. Each area supports a specific need while remaining in dialogue with the others, forming a cohesive workplace ecosystem rather than a collection of isolated rooms. Material choices were made with the same rigour applied to the layout. Layered birch ply joinery provides texture and warmth, more cost-effective than oak, with a better finish than melamine. Black Formica on the bar counter and reception desk creates depth and contrast. Engineered stone for the kitchen top and duco-sprayed cupboards ensure a finish that lasts.
