About the Project

Navigating the complexities of a split-level workspace, the Inhouse Design Team transformed Allport Cargo Services’ Cape Town offices into a cohesive maritime-inspired masterpiece. Spanning the 2nd and 7th floors of a Loop Street landmark, this project required the precise touch of workspace experts to bridge the spatial gap through a unified brand narrative. Drawing deep inspiration from the shipping industry, Inhouse Design Studio implemented an international designs strategy that greets visitors with immediate corporate identity, utilizing a sophisticated palette of navy, charcoal, and crisp white. Every corner of the office, from the elevator landings to the primary work zones, reflects a commitment to high-end interior office design that sets these premises apart from any other in the building. The experience begins on the 7th floor, where a dramatic floor-to-ceiling timber installation serves as a bold architectural anchor, showcasing the firm's logo in precision-cut black steel. This focal point, paired with a custom-contoured reception desk, highlights the Inhouse Design Studio’s mastery of custom designed furniture and bespoke craftsmanship. Innovative space planning allowed for the inclusion of playful yet functional elements, such as a narrow, acoustic phone room clad in shipping-container wallpaper—a direct nod to the company's freight-forwarding heritage. These signature design motifs are artfully echoed on the 2nd floor, where the Inhouse Design Team mirrored the timber work and asymmetrical metro tiling to ensure a seamless transition for staff moving between levels. On the 2nd floor, the balance between open-plan productivity and private collaboration is expertly maintained. A closed-off meeting room serves as a highlight of the interior office design, featuring a modern conference table supported by timber blocks and chairs that reiterate the nautical theme. Throughout the office, polished parquet flooring and exposed brickwork soften the modern white walls, while maritime maps scattered across the layout serve as constant reminders of the firm's global reach. As Director Phillip Wyatt notes, the multi-stage renovation resulted in a world-class environment that is as professional as it is engaging. This project stands as a testament to how Inhouse Design Studio utilizes expert space planning and contemporary designs to create workspaces that are not only functional but truly iconic.
